Expecting trouble from the police, Morgan alerts Slim to be ready to leave the island as soon as possible, but their departure is delayed when police captain Renard holds Morgan's friend Eddie for questioning. Eddie is a derelict alcoholic for whom Morgan feels responsible - Morgan knows that Eddie will give everything away if liqour is withheld from him.

Morgan explodes into action - he shoots Renard's bodyguard and pistol-whips Renard into telephoning for Eddie's release. Turning the corrupt officials over to the Free French, Morgan is free to leave the island with Eddie...and Slim.
