Katharine Hepburn and Boyer

In Break of Hearts (1935) Boyer was co-starred with the young Katharine Hepburn.
He plays a temperamental conductor who marries aspiring composer
Hepburn but fails to take her or their marriage seriously for very long.
After causing her lots of suffering, he does have to pay for his thoughtless dalliances (this was a 30s film, after all), turning to the evils of drink and ruin.

Hepburn is noble and sincere, Boyer selfish and charming, although their performances don't entirely rise above the soggy script.
Despite this, Break of Hearts is a good opportunity to see two fine actors relatively early in their respective careers.
