Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney were
one of MGM's most popular screen teams of the late 30's and early 40's.
Audiences couldn't get enough of their portrayals of what every American
teen of the time should be...only Mickey and Judy were just a little bit
more
so. The boundless energy, to say nothing of the talent of these two
young performers burns up the screen even today.
Babes In Arms (1939) is one
of their best, another variation on -- "Hey kids, let's put on a
show!" And they made us believe it. All we needed was a barn. Or
a back yard, or an abandoned theatre....
