Always loved James Cagney. When all the girls had 'I LOVE ELVIS ' sewn across their T-Shirts, and they asked who MY 'pin-up' was, I said JAMES CAGNEY
I was only 12 years old. Then a few months ago I discovered his Irish immigrant father came from Co. Leitrim in Southern Ireland,Where my father had come from. My father died when I was 10 years old, I had adored him, I therefore must have seen something 'familiar' in Mr. Cagney !James Cagney was not only a GOOD ACTOR, but a GOOD MAN.

I just spent a week up in Dutchess County New York and was curious about the old Cagney home up there. We drove to Bangall New York and we asked for directions from the clerk at the little post office across from the Stage Stop Restaurant. She gave us directions and told us that Cagney would often be seen sitting under a big tree near the pond at the side of his home. We drove there in less than 10 minutes and found a small stone house at the top of a hill, right next to a large tree (maple?) and fairly large pond. There was a long and curved road leading to this modest house. I could imagine Cagney sitting in a comfortable chair waving to vehicles just as the postal clerk had described. Does anyone have any photos of the Cagney farm? I can furnish a shot of the stone farm house. But what has become of the acreage? Where is the Cagney memorabilia?
